Statement from DNR Secretary Scott Angelle on Marjorie McKeithen joining the agency
“I am pleased and honored to continue working with Marjorie, who will now lead our state’s mineral management efforts, as Assistant Secretary of the Office of Mineral Resources. She has agreed to devote her talents in a full-time capacity and with her education, experience, and people-skills; she will be an extremely valuable member of the department’s executive team.” The Office of Mineral Resources’ (OMR) primary function is working with the State Mineral Board, which has authority over the leasing of state-owned land and water bottoms for development and production of oil and gas in Louisiana. The Board conducts lease sales each month to review and award leases, examine audit reports, and monitor mineral income to the state. McKeithen will serve as Secretary of the Mineral Board. There are four divisions within the OMR: Administrative, Petroleum Lands, Geological and Engineering, and Mineral Income. |
