State's Ground Water Commission to conduct meeting on July 31

The Louisiana Ground Water Resources Commission will hold a public meeting on Monday, July 31, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in Baton Rouge. The meeting will be located in the LaSalle Office Building in the LaBelle Room at 617 North Third St.

According to Commission Chairman Scott Kirkpatrick, the panel will discuss issues relative to the Sparta Aquifer and recent legislative actions. State Representative Hollis Downs of Ruston will also address the group on current educational initiatives on water conservation underway in several parishes in north Louisiana.

The Ground Water Resources Commission was created in 2003, to provide for a statewide ground water management program.
