U.S. DOE Energy Official to Visit LSU Building Showhouse and Energy-Efficient Habitat Home
WASHINGTON, DC—The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Acting Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Douglas L. Faulkner, will kick off a series of seminars throughout the Gulf Coast region to promote energy efficiency in post-hurricane rebuilding efforts Thursday, December 15, 2005. The “Rebuilding and Restoring Homes for the Gulf Coast Region” seminar will bring together building industry professionals, including architects, general contractors, residential inspectors, realtors, home builders and owners on the campus of Louisiana State University Agricultural Center.
Mr. Faulkner will tour the “Louisiana House,” a building solutions showcase, meet with local and state officials, speak at the seminar, and visit an ENERGY STAR®-qualified Habitat for Humanity house built for Hurricane Katrina evacuees from New Orleans.

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources is the designated state agency responsible for the administration of programs provided and funded by U.S. DOE through its Energy Office.
Technology Assessment Director Mike French and Energy Supervisor Paula Ridgeway of DNR will participate in the day’s events. Governor’s Office staff Advisor for Natural Resources, Scott Kirkpatrick, will also meet Secretary Faulker during his visit.
