Worldwide Korean Co. selects Louisiana site to Drill for Natural Gas
Day 16: On Wednesday, drilling operations continue at well site Edmee Mestayer et al #1 in Iberia parish, just off Darnell Road, east on Hwy 86. Directional drilling is now at a depth of 7,600 feet. General Manager D.S. Choi and DNR Secretary Scott Angelle will meet onsite to discuss the operations and will see the activity firsthand. DNR Secrerary Scott Angelle said this drilling event marks a page in oil and gas history for our state. In 1983, this global energy company embarked on exploration and production for the first time in Indonesia. Today, SK E&P is active in 19 countries, now including Louisiana as its first U.S. operating venture. The Department of Natural Resources, Office of Conservation issued two permits for exploration and production to SK E&P Corp. in September 2005. SK, then soon after, spudded the first of its two wells on October 11th. Other onsite participates include DNR Conservation Enforcement Specialist Lyn DeCuir, and Contractors/Jeff Rhoads, Site Staff Engineer/Halliburton, Lafayette, LA and Marshall Hornsby, Operations Manager/Grey Wolf, Crowley, LA. |
