Federal dollars targeted for battling the ravages of coastal erosion in Louisiana have been pledged by Congress today with the passage of the reauthorization of the "Breaux Act," also known as the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA).

Members of the state’s Oilfield Site Restoration Commission received fiscal year-end reports last Thursday, on projects in six parishes where orphaned wells have been closed through the Oilfield Site Restoration Program (OSRP). The commission meets quarterly in Baton Rouge at the La. Department of Natural Resources’ Office of Conservation.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold four public meetings in March to hear ideas on hurricane work across Louisiana.
