The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Acting Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Douglas L. Faulkner, will kick off a series of seminars throughout the Gulf Coast region to promote energy efficiency in post-hurricane rebuilding efforts Thursday, December 15, 2005. The “Rebuilding and Restoring Homes for the Gulf Coast Region” seminar will bring together building industry professionals, including architects, general contractors, residential inspectors, realtors, home builders and owners on the campus of Louisiana State University Agricultural Center.

DOE grant with state energy office to enhance rebuilding efforts

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Technology Assessment Division has been awarded a $100,000 grant by the United States Department of Energy (DOE) to incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable design practices into Louisiana’s rebuilding efforts. National experts with many years of experience will be available to share building design concepts at scheduled forums to be held in the hurricane affected regions of the state.
