GOVERNOR’S COASTAL COMMISSION TO HEAR PUBLIC COMMENTS ON DRAFT PLAN
The Governor’s Advisory Commission on Coastal Restoration and Conservation will hold a public hearing on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 9 a.m. in the Oliver Pollock Room/C-111 of the Galvez Building at 602 North 5th Street in Baton Rouge. The hearing will be held to host comments from the public on the draft Louisiana Coastal Area Ecosystem Restoration Study (LCA Plan), a plan that addresses some of the state’s most critical coastal restoration needs in the near term.
Commissioners will hear public comments beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until all comments have been made. Immediately following the hearing, a regular commission meeting will convene.
“We felt it was important for citizens to be able to express their opinions on the near-term restoration plan directly to the governor’s coastal commissioners, who represent stakeholders from across the coast,” R. King Milling, chairman of the commission, said, “and it’s important to us as commissioners to hear, first-hand, how the public feels about the plan.”
