SJB Group, LLC in Baton Rouge has been awarded the engineering and design contract for the Riverine Sand Mining / Scofield Island Restoration Project by the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the National Marine Fisheries Service.

Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco Announces Historic MMS Lawsuit Settlement

BATON ROUGE – Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco announced in a press conference Tuesday the State of Louisiana has reached a settlement in its suit to stop the Minerals Management Service (MMS) from conducting any further oil and gas lease sales in the Western or Central Gulf of Mexico until it has prepared a new Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) covering the next sale in these areas.

Statement from DNR Secretary Scott Angelle on Marjorie McKeithen joining the agency
The Office of Mineral Resources’ (OMR) primary function is working with the State Mineral Board, which has authority over the leasing of state-owned land and water bottoms for development and production of oil and gas in Louisiana. The Board conducts lease sales each month to review and award leases, examine audit reports, and monitor mineral income to the state. McKeithen will serve as Secretary of the Mineral Board.

The state Ground Water Resources Commission will hold a public meeting on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in Baton Rouge. The meeting will be located in the LaSalle Office Building in the LaBelle Room at 617 North Third St.
