Coastal Wetland Permitting seminar planned
Coastal officials at the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have recently implemented new measures that make the coastal “permitting” process easier for the public and industry. To support these efforts, DNR is hosting an inter-agency seminar to educate participants on the new procedures and ways to speed-up project requests.
Holly Beach and other coastal projects shown today
Holly Beach, LA - Cameron Parish provided the blue skies, sandy beach, and a large welcoming committee today for U. S. Senator John Breaux as he presided over the dedication of several coastal restoration projects at Holly Beach in southwest Louisiana. Federal, state, and local officials sponsored the ceremony to celebrate the largest shoreline protection project completed since the start of the Breaux Act (or CWPPRA) program in 1990.
DNR and Corp announce more public meetings on coastal plans
A third series of public meetings, sponsored by state and federal managers of the Louisiana Coastal Area (LCA) formerly known as the Louisiana Comprehensive Coastwide Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study, will be held Aug. 4 -7. All meetings are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the following locations:

Environmental advisors to the President in La. for two days
The Governor's Office of Coastal Activities and the La. Dept. of Natural Resources announced today the schedule of events for state government officials meeting with President Bush's top environmental advisors. The group will meet in New Orleans, Port Fourchon in LaFourche Parish, and in Baton Rouge.
Coastal Restoration Projects Annual Report produced by DNR
The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources’ Coastal Restoration Division has recently completed its annual review of coastal restoration projects in the state. The report gives a brief overview on how the state operates the coastal restoration program. In addition, the 96-page book features information on project costs, the type and status of a project, and its scope and benefits.
Public Invited to Participate in Coastal Restoration Study
NEW ORLEANS – During the first two weeks of February, the New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, will host a series of public meetings to present the status and solicit comments on a comprehensive coastwide ecosystem restoration study now underway.
Grand Terre Island and Historical Fort Restoration to Begin
Coastal restoration work on two large, multi-million dollar projects in Jefferson Parish is expected to begin next month, announced state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officials. The projects are at the mouth of Barataria Bay and will aid in preserving a historical landmark, stopping gulf shoreline erosion, and protecting marine fisheries and habitat.

The Louisiana Coastal Wetlands Conservation and Restoration (Breaux Act) Task Force, the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, and Iberia and Vermilion parishes hosted a dedication and groundbreaking ceremony for six coastal wetland projects today at 10 a.m. on Avery Island.
