NOAA AND LOUISIANA DNR DEDICATE LITTLE VERMILION BAY PROJECT
Federal, state and local officials today dedicated the Little Vermilion Bay Sediment Trapping Project – another completed milestone in the 10-year-old campaign to restore and protect coastal Louisiana.
DNR COASTAL MANAGERS HOLD WORKSHOP AND ANNOUNCE PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON NONPOINT SOURCE POLLUTION TOPIC
Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' Coastal Management Division will host a workshop to address and discuss the topic, Nonpoint Source Pollution, a serious problem for coastal waters and other water bodies in the state. The workshop will be held on Thursday, November 30th at Efferson Hall on the LSU campus.

The State Mineral Board conducted a Lease Sale November 8, 2000, at 10:00 a.m. in the Mineral Board Hearing Room located in the State Land and Natural Resources Building in Baton Rouge. Below are the preliminary results of the Lease Sale and 2000-2001 Fiscal Year totals.
DNR GEOLOGIST ELECTED TO NATIONAL BOARD
Dr. Madhurendu B. Kumar, Geologist Supervisor with the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Office of Conservation has recently been elected Treasurer of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG). As an officer of AIPG, he will serve on the National Executive Committee until 2002.
DNR reports restoration projects along coast now listed for Phase One
Eight coastal restoration projects listed on the state's Priority Project List 9 (PPL9) have reached the first phase of implementation. State coastal officials say that means budget approvals for all engineering and preconstruction work are now complete.

Lafitte. LA—A public dedication was held today highlighting the completion of the Barataria Bay Waterway West Bank Restoration Project, a Breaux Act project in Jefferson Parish located about five miles south of Lafitte, Louisiana, in an area commonly referred to as the ‘Dupre Cut.'

LOUISIANA TO RECOVER ADDITIONAL MINERAL ROYALTY INCOME
Federal legislation repealing the "net receipts sharing" practice of the Minerals Leasing Act will mean more money for states to spend on education. Louisiana anticipates getting back over $40,000 per year to be used for schools and education.

Baton Rouge, LA – Three coastal managers of the state's Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be recognized by the Washington D.C.-based program, Coastal America, during ceremonies held at the Aquarium of the Americas on Tuesday, September 19, 2000.
