Public Invited to Participate in Coastal Restoration Study
NEW ORLEANS – During the first two weeks of February, the New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, will host a series of public meetings to present the status and solicit comments on a comprehensive coastwide ecosystem restoration study now underway.
STATE’S CONSERVATION OFFICE REPORTS ON OILFIELD SITES
The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has aggressively pursued oilfield site restoration since 1994. Several years ago as Act 404 was established by the legislature, both state government and the oil and gas industry moved into fast-gear to evaluate and identify orphaned or abandoned oilfield sites in Louisiana. It was determined then, that the oil and gas industry’s role would be to provide funding for restoration of such sites.
COASTAL PROJECTS SHOWN IN VERMILLION AND IBERIA PARISHES
The Louisiana Coastal Wetlands Conservation and Restoration (Breaux Act) Task Force, the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, and Iberia and Vermilion parishes hosted a dedication and groundbreaking ceremony for six coastal wetland projects today at 10 a.m. on Avery Island.
