The 15th Annual Baton Rouge Earth Day environmental festival will be held on Sunday, April 17th in downtown Baton Rouge on North Blvd. Activities will begin at 12 noon and continue until 8:30 pm.

State Agencies find ways to streamline permitting in coastal zone
An active oilfield drilling location in Scott, LA served as the backdrop today for a signing event between the state departments of Natural Resources and Wildlife and Fisheries to announce new procedures that streamline the coastal use permitting process.
Timbalier Island Dune and Marsh Restoration Project (TE-40) Project Profile
The objective of this project was to restore the eastern end of Timbalier Island through the direct creation of dune and marsh habitat. The project consist of dredging and pumping approximately 4.6 million cubic yards of sediment from an offshore sand source to the island. The borrow area was located approximately 14,000 feet from the project site and is south of Little Pass, between Timbalier and East Timbalier Islands. Sand fencing was also installed on the dune platform. This fencing will help capture and retain wind blown sand.
Coastal Restoration Project Report complete and available from DNR
The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has completed its Coastal Restoration Annual Project Reviews (December 2004) report. The 82-page report has information on all coastal restoration projects in Louisiana and provides an overview of current efforts to protect, conserve, restore, and enhance the state's coastal wetlands.
